I’m a high-energy person.

I like movement.
I like momentum.
I like getting things done.

Time is money.

That mindset has taken me places many people never reach. It’s produced progress, results, and success. But it’s also produced pain—mistakes that didn’t need to happen, conflicts that could have been avoided, and losses that weren’t necessary.

Not because I moved fast.
But because I moved without enough discernment.

Speed Isn’t the Problem — Timing Is

Here’s a truth I had to learn the hard way:

Speed without wisdom destroys more lives than laziness ever will.

We’re taught that standing still is dangerous. That hesitation equals failure. That if you don’t act fast, you’ll miss out.

Sometimes that’s true.

But sometimes the real danger isn’t hesitation.
It’s movement without clarity.

There are moments when speed is a weapon:

  • execution
  • opportunity
  • decisive action

And there are moments when speed is poison:

  • relationships
  • emotional conversations
  • major life decisions

The problem isn’t speed.
The problem is not knowing when to use it.

Knowing When to Move — and When to Stay Still

One of the hardest lessons for me has been learning when to move and when to stay still—especially when emotions are involved.

When situations are hot.
When energy is high.
When words want to come out fast.

That’s usually the exact moment to slow down.

I still struggle with this today. In relationships, family dynamics, and interpersonal situations, there’s often an urge to explain, fix, or respond immediately.

But I’ve learned something important:

Not every situation needs a response.
Some situations need space.

Stepping away.
Becoming the observer.
Watching the energy instead of feeding it.

That’s not weakness.
That’s precision.

Emotional Decisions vs Strategic Decisions

There’s a clear difference between emotional decisions and strategic ones.

Emotional decisions feel urgent.
Strategic decisions feel calm.

Emotional decisions want relief now.
Strategic decisions want alignment later.

If you don’t slow down long enough to tell the difference, you’ll mistake urgency for truth.

And urgency is rarely a good advisor.

When Stillness Creates Solutions

I almost lost something important because I didn’t immediately recognize this.

During my home purchase in Spain, the deal came back with conditions that felt impossible. On paper, it looked like everything was falling apart. For an entire week, nothing moved. No progress. Just silence.

Every part of me wanted to react.
To walk away.
To go back home.
To say, “This isn’t working.”

But I didn’t.

I stayed still.

That week of silence did something powerful—it created clarity. I processed the information fully, thought strategically, and responded instead of reacting.

When I finally came back with my response, it was accepted. The deal moved forward.

And I realized something important:

If I had rushed, I would’ve lost it.

Stillness didn’t delay progress.
It enabled it.

When Coldness Is Wisdom

This is something many people misunderstand.

Coldness is not always cruelty.
Sometimes coldness is wisdom.

Taking space doesn’t mean you don’t care.
It means you care enough not to act recklessly.

Being calm doesn’t mean you’re passive.
It means you’re in control.

A surgeon doesn’t rush.
A pilot doesn’t panic.
A chess player doesn’t move emotionally.

They slow down because the cost of error is high.

Life is no different.

Aim Your Energy

This episode isn’t telling you to lose your drive.

It’s telling you to aim it.

Move fast when the path is clear.
Slow down when emotions are involved.
Pause when the stakes are high.

Because the right move made slowly will always beat the wrong move made fast.

Every time.

The Shift

The shift is simple but powerful:

Stop reacting emotionally.
Start acting intentionally.

Let clarity catch up to your energy.

Slow is not the enemy.

Uncontrolled speed is.

And once you understand that, you stop burning your own life down in the name of progress.
